MACE and The Rollin Tigers put on a very professional and enjoyable tournament Saturday October 29, 2011. MACE hosted Memphis, Mobile, and New Orleans’s at Jackson State University’s Walter Payton Center. MACE also invited JSU’s Health, Physical Education and Recreation department to come out and play an exhibition against the Rollin tigers as well. MACE had a hospitality table set up were there was Crispy Creams donuts for breakfast, granola bars, fruit, water, and Gatorade. We provided a great lunch. There was smoked pork loin, smoked chicken, mash potato casserole, and honey baked roles. We served Water, Gatorade, and Lemonade, with fresh baked cookies for desert. We made sure each team in the Gulf South Conference played three games but the Rollin Tigers had a second team of fifteen players, so MACE let them play against New Orleans and against JSU’s HPER Department. Mobile Patriots coach told us,” This was the best tournaments that they had been a part of in a long time.” We also brought in the Division III and Championship Division Commissioner Buddy Barnes from Chattanooga, TN to be a referee. He is excited to know that we have decided to put on the first conference championship that has been done in ten year. It will be on March 17 and 18 2011.I am also excited to announce that the Rollin Tigers won their first ever conference game in their short 9 month excitant.

The city of Philadelphia, Mississippi Vocational Rehabilitation Services invited MACE to perform a wheelchair basketball exhibition between some of the men on the Choctaw reservation and the Rollin Tigers. There were over 60 people from the reservation there. The Rollin Tigers gave the Choctaw’s twenty points a half, and after the end of the second twenty minute half, they gave them ten more points with ten more minutes. When the game was over, MACE wanted everyone there to know that a person disability does not dictate a individuals effort in life.

Bolden Alternative school invited MACE to talk to the school for an Image Empowerment Motivational Speech. Antonio Wright talked to students that were sent to this school for one of two reasons. Either they are two or more years behind and needed to catch up or they had been in trouble and going to this school is there punished. They Grades rang form third grade to twelfth grade. We talked to them about making good decision and how to take responsibility for the wrong and bad decisions they have already made.

Last Wednesday we went to meet a 7 year old girl that is a paraplegic. She was a very sweet little girl and had a great spirit!! She is excited about the things we do with MACE and wants to get involved. We also met a boy in a power chair that was very cool! These kids are one of the big reasons we do this! We want adults and kids with physical dissabilities to enjoy wheelchair sports and recreation!!

    Big Easy Classic

MACE and the Rollin Tigers had a great time. We took twelve players and their families to New Orleans, LA. We went down together Friday September 30 and stayed at The Holiday Inn. We Played Huston first Saturday morning at 9 am then we played New Orleans and finished the day with Sanantonio.  We all went to Mo’s Pizza and ate dinner. We played New Orleans again Sunday afternoon at 12:30. Before we headed back home we stopped at Golden Coral and stuffed ourselves. I am so thankful for all our sponsors and supporters because without them we would not have been able to pull this off.
